Listen to clips from "Tall Tales"
Songwriters take a long hard road in pursuit of their craft. Considered amongst his peers one of the very best rock singers in Vancouver in the 80's, Chris never fully resonated with the musical die in which he was cast in those days. He was a technically gifted vocalist, possessed of towering range and dynamics, and poured enormous energy into his performances. Chris, however, wrestled with the things that separate artist from mere entertainer. It simply wasn't enough to mimic or ape other rock singers and perform other writers songs. Chris began penning his own compositions, awakened to the possibility that his songs could mean something to the listener. He had nothing to prove as a vocalist, but he had much to discover as a communicator and storyteller.
In the midst of raising a young family, and supporting them while toiling as a heavy equipment operator, Chris has emerged as a mature songwriter, citing artists like John Hiatt, John Mellancamp, Bonnie Raitt and Hank Williams Jr. as major influences and inspirations. Far from being an impediment to artistic growth, his blue collar roots has allowed Chris to observe everyday life from the most horizontal level possible, and write sympathetically about the everyman's middle class struggles. This doesn't mean Chris panders to anybodies politics. He is neither crusader or prophet. In the tradition of great songwriters, Chris observes the human drama, then populates his songs with characters and scenarios that the listener will immediately recognize and relate to.
Today, Chris is engaged in moving his career forward, writing at a torrid pace, recording and releasing new material, and seeking a publishing deal for his ever expanding catalogue. His first album "Stuck With The Truck" is in commercial release, as is his sophomore effort "Tall Tales".
Chris's passionate delivery, solid songwriting, unbridled enthusiasm, and peerless work ethic should be enough to guide him. He should succeed at this, because the world is a poorer place if he doesn't.
